YOUNG UKRAINIANS TAKE ON THE ITALIAN FOOTBALL SCHOOL IN COVERCIANO

At the international football training centre in Coverciano, Italy, a training and educational programme involving young Ukrainian footballers is underway. Every day, the players take part in two-hour training sessions led by Italian coaches and experts.

Camp Participants

The trip is part of a partnership between the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). Ukraine is represented in Coverciano by three teams: the winner of the nationwide “School Ball” competition, Ternopil Specialized School No. 3; the finalist from the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum No. 10; and the girls’ team of Poltava-based Vorskla, finalists of the Ukrainian U13 Championship.

Each training session focuses on the comprehensive development of the young athletes, including improving technical skills, developing decision-making on the pitch and deepening their understanding of the game. The programme is built around modern exercises and tactical approaches used by leading football academies across Europe.

Project Coaching Staff

Over the past few days, the Ukrainian players have trained under the guidance of five Italian specialists:

  • Alfons Muka — FC Siena coach (UEFA B);
  • Ruggero Radice — Technical Instructor at AIAC and the FIGC Technical Sector;
  • Marcello Mancini — President of AIAC Solidale ETS;
  • Roberto Baroni — Federal Coach and Instructor (UEFA A);
  • Daniele Bortolotti.

Valuable Experience for Ukrainian Coaches

The project is important not only for the players but also for the Ukrainian coaches accompanying the teams. Working side by side with their Italian counterparts gives them an opportunity to learn about the latest training methodologies and apply the knowledge they gain to their coaching practices in Ukraine.

Thanks to the Partners

The Ukrainian Association of Football extends its sincere gratitude to the Italian Association of Football Coaches (AIAC) and AIAC Solidale ETS for their hospitality, willingness to share their professional knowledge and experience, and significant contribution to strengthening Ukrainian-Italian football cooperation.
