National Needs Assessment Report on Amputee Football in Ukraine

Under the ERAFA project (Erasmus+ Sport, co-funded by the European Union), the "National Needs Assessment Report on Amputee Football in Ukraine" has been published.

The research confirms that for players with limb amputation, amputee football is more than a sport - it is a tool for physical recovery, psychological stabilization, and a return to active life. The findings draw not only on a nationwide survey, but also on focus groups with coaches, club managers, and rehabilitation specialists, offering a closer look at the day-to-day practice of amputee football in Ukraine. This combined analysis outlines directions for the sport's further development - in particular, a more systematic approach to engaging new players, the financial sustainability of clubs, standardization of medical support, and expanded educational opportunities for specialists.

Building on this analysis, the ERAFA team has developed a needs map and an engagement model for amputee football, which will inform the project's next steps: training programmes for coaches and specialists, and the expansion of the club network across Ukraine.

The report was prepared by Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture (LSUPC) under the ERAFA project, with the participation of the consortium: UAF Foundation (coordinator), the European Amputee Football Federation (EAFF), Shakhtar Social, and Club Deportivo Elemental Dragones de Lavapiés.
